This course is tailored for everyone who interacts with children at home, in school, church or any other social institution. Parents, siblings, relatives, caregivers, teachers, police, doctors, house helps, political and community leaders, church staff, pastors, priests, nuns and even children are candidates of this course.
Child abuse and neglect are two evils happening to children at an alarming rate especially during pandemics such as COVID 19 where the numbers of violated children swell to unimaginable levels. Therefore, everyone in any place where children are found - home, learning institutions or even places of work where children are found (where staff houses or homes are in the same compound with offices such as refugee camps, plantations etc) need to acquire knowledge and skills about child safeguarding and protection.
By the end of the course, the learners should be able to differentiate between child safeguarding and child protection; notice common signs of abuse in children, listen to children and take action when they complain of abuse or neglect, give the children a voice - to be able to say no to abuse, to support child victims of abuse by following due process, learn about child rights ensure they advocate for the development of child rights policies in every place/ institutions where children frequent.
